We have once again fully enjoyed our Longpoint escape. the first part of our trip was shared with our dear friends and we then had a few days to ourselves. We always so look forward to our visit and have never been disappointed. Your home is beautiful. Our only suggestion would be for better lighting in the living room for reading and perhaps the chaises on the deck need replacing. Hope to return in 2011! We had a spectacular time at Longpoint Escape! We rode out Hurricane Earl & enjoyed the big surf that was a prelude to Earl. Longpoint beach & pond are one of the best places on the island! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Longpoint Escape! You have thought of everything necessary for a great vacation! Your property is perfectly thought out and well planned. We enjoyed Longpoint beach, went to South beach, kayaked, enjoyed visiting each unique town on MV, and rested at the house. We dined at Lure – excellent food and took the complimentary water taxi to the restaurant which was delightful! We always love Sharky’s Cantina, and tried the Art Cliff diner this year. the DVD’s are such a nice touch! We look forward to returning next year!

We had a great time, despite Wyatt’s unfortunate illness. He was feeling well enough Tuesday night to go to the movies, and things kept improving after that. The weather was, for the most part, beautiful. We went for a number of walks and discovered places we hadn’t seen before (the Land Trust walk near Menemsha, Lambert’s Cove Beach). It was a very enjoyable week! We are seriously considering going again next May. May was similar to Sept, but even quieter! We will let you know ASAP if we decide to go again next May.FYI–We never ended up filling the gas tank for the grill. Thanks so much for everything, Jaimie & Carrie

Dear Adam & Helga, Thank you again for so generously letting us use your house this past weekend. It was such a wonderful getaway, the island was so beautiful, the weather perfect – cold and clear and sunny, with the water truly shimmering (it was amazing to see) and unbelievably starry nights. That’s the first time I’d been to your Vineyard house and I think it is fantastic. I love so many of the pretty touches, like the glass on the front door and tile around the fireplace and the funky upstairs tub. And it is designed in a way that lets light and sun flood in, which I loved, too. And the house’s proximity to Long Point Wildlife Refuge is incredible. We went there twice and saw a seal, a group of deer, and a snowy owl, plus a bunch of other cool birds. I think your location gives you the best of all worlds – privacy, nature. but also relatively easy access to the more touristy parts of the island. Thank you again. “This is our 5th year here. Bye bye, last night here!” That’s our report from Josh, 7 yrs old. From us grown ups – what can we say…another lovely vacation at Longpoint Escape. Comfortable, sunny, loads of fun. Let’s see what we can recommend to other visitors… West Tisbury Library is THE greatest. Had a fantastic bike ride from Edgartown to OB via State Beach. Sweet, sweet corn from Morning Glory Farm. Unbelievable pizza at Latanzi’s. Alexadra (3) got introduced to Candy Land thanks to yoru careful and generous planning. Biked to airport for a fun lunch for the kids. One special night out we had a fantastic, unusual friendly meal at the Cornerway in Chilmark Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful home. Alexandra & Joshua loved your yard (including falling in love with the outdoor shower) and all the great space for board games. Andreas & I loved the spaciousness and well-considered layout. Dear Adam & Helga, It is the end of our 2nd summer at Longpoint Escape. We are bittersweet at leaving, as your home is as welcoming and warm as last year. This year was particularly wonderful, as we celebrated our parents 50th wedding anniversary here. It was important that we find a special place for this awesome celebration, and LPE fit the bill! We love the newest addition to the LPE family – the handsome pheasant! He strutted and made lots of mating calls – how fun to watch him! As was the case last year, the house is well stocked, which is a comfort after traveling so far to get here. And your book collection is fabulous. Wow! What a great week we had – superb weather, a fine time “making the rounds” at our favorite places and discovering new ones, but most of all, just relaxing at Longpoint Escape. The “bonus” this year at LPE is the family of 8 ring necked pheasants! The male has a harem of 2 females. We saw him courting these hens when we were here in April. He was trying to attract even more mates with his frequent calls! Anyway, there are 5 offspring. If you sit in the living room or on the porch, they come out of the brush about 2:30 -3:30 pm. If you feed them as we did, they’ll be out at 2:30! I tell you all this as I thought you, Helga, & the kids would enjoy this experience. We look forward to our usual late April visit, esp. to see “Bill”, “Barb”, “Nicki”, & “Margene” – the male & 3 females. If you watch HBO’s “Big Love” you will appreciate the similarities! A truly brilliant New England home and experience. We were blessed with superb weather which allowed us to take full advantage of the glorious beach and the rest of the Island. Highlights for us included the mini-golf in Vineyard Haven the delicacies of the Black Dog Bakery opposite. We experienced and loved the whole lobster boiling and it has converted me back to the delicacies of shellfish. Thank you for everything including all the good local knowledge not found in guide books.
