What to See? Where to Eat?

If you have already vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard, then you probably have a routine down for the places you want to eat and the beaches you want to visit.  If not, then refer back to this page, where I will try and keep it as updated as I can. Did you go somewhere or eat someplace that you think others would love to know about? Please email me and I’d love to post it on here!  Everybody’s input makes everybody’s vacations that much better!

Where to eat?

Many great places to eat out as a family or on a more romantic evening out…

For grown ups leaving the kids behind for the evening…

Lattanzi’s - Edgartown – traditional Italian cuisine

Le Grenier French Cuisine – in Vineyard Haven.

The Sweet Life Cafe – Oak Bluffs

Lambert’s Cove Inn - West Tisbury

L’etoile – Edgartown – for an elegant evening out

Chesca’s for dinner in Edgartown – we highly recommend it!

The Beach Plum Inn – Menemsha – holy moly is this place awesome and the views!

For more family friendly restaurants…

Sharky’s Cantina – surprisingly great Mexican food in new England? You betcha! In Oak Bluffs or the more family friendly location in Edgartown.

The Newes at the Kelley House in Edgartown for classic pub food that is really tasty.

Among the Flowers Cafe in Edgartown. Cute and yummy!

Right Fork Diner at the Katama Airfield, watch the planes come and go, open for breakfast and lunch.

Linda Jeans in Oak Bluffs - something for everyone in the family

The Art Cliff Diner in Vineyard Haven at 5 corners. Local, original, delicious!

The Aquinnah Shopon the cliffs in Aquinnah – a view like no other on the island and good food. It can get crowded so if you have little ones, go early! We recommend it for breakfast.

Humphrey’s Bakery - for a serious sandwich, bagels, baked goods.

The Black Dog - enough said.

The Home Port – Menemsha -

Jimmy Seas Pan Pasta – Oak Bluffs – sharing is a must as the portions are way too big for one person to eat. Be prepared to wait if you aren’t there right when it opens. It is yummy food for the entire family but go early if you have little ones.

Espresso Love - Edgartown – good coffee!

Mocha Motts - Oak Bluffs – also good coffee!

Beetlebung Coffee House – Vineyard Haven – love it!

Fresh Seafood

Larsen’s – Menemsha – Highly recommend!! Fresh caught seafood and lobsters eaten dockside as you watch the fishermen come in. Seafood doesn’t get any better than this, and photo ops abound. Come at sunset for the total package of good food, and a crowd of people that appreciate it all.  Stake a claim on the beach, let the kids run free, applaud as the sun dips below the water…

The Bite – in Menemsha…fried clams…mmmmmm

The Galley - Menemsha – a must for the whole family for an authentic MV ocean side eating experience.

Check out Dining Out MV for a complete list of restaurants, though we haven’t eaten at every single place ourselves.

Don’t miss…!

Morning Glory Farm – not far from our house, fresh produce, homemade jams and prepared meals & soups, meat from the farm, fresh eggs, hot coffee. A must!

Chilmark Chocolates – Chilmark – a place for damn good chocolates. A Martha’s Vineyard must!

The Vineyard Square Hotel – Edgartown – formerly the Old Colonial Inn, you shouldn’t pass up the chance to sit out on the grand porch with a drink and watch the sunset behind a lighthouse.

The Flying Horses - Oak Bluffs – the oldest carousel in America – catch the brass ring for a free ride!

Chilmark Flea Market – Chilmark

West Tisbury Farmer’s Market – Grab some good grub to snack on while you shop for fresh produce to go with dinner

The Lazy Frog - Oak Bluffs on Circuit Ave – For the best selection of whatever you need for Frisbee Golf (yes, Martha’s Vineyard has a Frisbee Golf Course!) as well as an extensive selection of games, puzzles, beach toys, lawn games, kites,  poker night necessities, etc. – whatever you need to entertain any age on a sunny OR rainy day.  And they are super nice. Stop in & say hello!

Check out MVOL for a more detailed listing of everything going on around MV.
